Crown PM Porcelain East Germany, Martinroda Mark

Crown PM Porcelain East Germany, Martinroda Mark

The Crown PM Factory had its upstart in 1900 in the town of Martinroda, German Thuringia. The Founders were father and son, Friedrich and Herrmann Eger. Most of the porcelain was produced and exported to America.

Production was halted at the beginning of WWII and resumed in 1946 as the Lichte (V.E.B. Zierporzellan Lichte).  And in 1977, the factory was purchased and owned by Ilmenau Porzellanwerk.

In 1990, the factory was back into the owner's hands renaming it Porzellanfabrik Martinroda Frierich Eger & Co.

I have a piece of Crown PM dating back to the 1960's with the Crown PM mark in Gold, made in East Germany.  The mark is hard to see, so I included a picture of a black and white mark underneath.

Crown PM East Germany Maker's Mark

This mark was used for a very short period of time (1969-1972) and this is hard to find.

Impressed is the Number 3026 and stamped in gold is the Crown, the letters PM, Made in East Germany, and the number 16.

It's a mint green border with a lighter center with gold edging, filigree pattern in the middle, with a pink rose bouquet.

It measures 5" long x 3-1/2" wide.  No cracks or chips.

Handfeeding your Backyard Chipmunks

How good does it feel to have wild animals interact with you.  Let me tell you, it feels amazing.  In our backyard we have squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, a mole, wild turkeys, groundhogs, a doe and fawn, a fox, coyote, and songbirds.

One of the easiest wild animals to train is the chipmunk.  As they are now emerging from their burrows, now is the time to start training them.  Start to make vocal sounds to alert them you are near.  I use the "tsk, tsk, tsk" sound.  When they look toward you, or stand on their haunches, throw them a shelled peanut.  Only use the one vocal sound to call them.

After a few days of throwing them peanuts, entice them to come closer by putting the peanut at your feet while using the vocal sound.  Try calling them while kneeling or sitting in the grass or the edge of a step or your porch.

Buy some black oil sunflower seeds and keep repeating the same routine for another week.  Put some sunflower seeds in your hand and call them.  Don't move.  They are very skiddish.  They can smell the seeds.  Gently move your hand from side to side slowly.

Eventually, after only two or 3 weeks of patience you can get them up on your lap.  They will climb up your legs and sit on your lap while stuffing their cheeks.  They'll leave, drop off their stash, and come again.  Don't worry, hoarding is their instinct.  They'll eat it later.  This is how I have trained my chipmunks.

Buddhism is a faith that was founded by Siddhartha Gautama (“the Buddha”) more than 2,500 years ago in India. With about 470 million followers, scholars consider Buddhism one of the major world religions. Its practice has historically been most prominent in East and Southeast Asia, but its influence is growing in the West. Many Buddhist ideas and philosophies overlap with those of other faiths.

Metal W. Britain 1990 England Miniature Military Armed Castle Guard British Toy Soldiers

Metal W. Britain 1990 England Miniature Military Armed Castle Guard British Toy Soldiers

This is a miniature collectible  figurine made of metal. Marked "W Britain, 1990, England".

He's a castle guard dressed in bright red, black hat, and green base.

Measures 2-3/4" tall.

Using a hollowcasting technique, William Britain created military figures with hollow centers as opposed to ones completely made of lead, which made the toys less expensive to produce and gave W.Britain an advantage over German toymakers who dominated the industry at the time.
